On June 12, 2023, the Denver Nuggets won their first NBA championship in franchise history against the Miami Heat. While fans celebrated the team's historic victory, one notable figure was also celebrating his own success, Drake. Through his partners at Stake, the Canadian rapper and sports enthusiast placed two six-figure bets on the Nuggets' victory. The first bet was for $600,000 on Denver winning the NBA Finals in exactly five games, while the second bet was for $230,000 on the team winning regardless of the number of games it took. With the Nuggets' victory in Game 5, Drake won both bets and took home a total of $830,000.

Drake's love for sports is well-known, and he has been seen supporting various teams over the years. However, his support has also been associated with a supposed "curse" that brings bad luck to the teams he supports. Despite concerns that his bets would curse the Nuggets, the team was able to overcome their shooting struggles and secure their first championship.

Nikola Jokic, the Nuggets' star player, was named NBA Finals MVP and led the team with 28 points, 16 rebounds, and 4 assists. He also made history as the first player to ever lead the entire NBA playoffs in total points, rebounds, and assists for a postseason run. Prior to the game, Drake expressed his excitement about the bets on his Instagram Story. He hyped up the Nuggets and their star player, Jokic, writing, "Gotta see this one hit tonight. The Joker gotta see this one hit. It's a must!"

After the victory, Drake took to his Instagram Story once again to celebrate his big win. He posted a photo of fellow Canadian Jamal Murray with the caption "CASH ME," proclaiming his success to his followers.

While Drake's success as a gambler is impressive, it is not the only thing on his mind. The rapper is gearing up for his It's All A Blur Tour with 21 Savage, which is set to begin later in June. Before leaving his hometown of Toronto, Drake wrote a heartfelt note to his fans. "Goodbye my beautiful city. I haven't left for this reason in almost 6 years but I hope I can make you proud once again," he wrote. "I love you all. Have an amazing summer and pls try to take care of each other. See you in October. 6."

Drake's note to Toronto reflects his deep connection to his hometown and his desire to make a positive impact on his fans. Despite his success as a rapper and gambler, he remains grounded and focused on his community. While Drake's bets on the Nuggets may have been a risky move, they ultimately paid off. His success as a gambler is a testament to his knowledge and passion for sports, and his big win is sure to inspire other fans to follow in his footsteps.

Drake's six-figure bets on the Denver Nuggets' NBA championship victory have solidified his status as a successful gambler and sports enthusiast. Despite concerns about the supposed "curse" associated with his support, the Nuggets were able to overcome their struggles and secure their first championship. Drake's success is a testament to his knowledge and passion for sports, and his heartfelt note to his hometown of Toronto reflects his deep connection to his community.
